FADE IN:

INT. WOMAN'S LIVING ROOM - NIGHT

A WOMAN enters the room.  She is nicely dressed, and the room bears the look of old money.  The clock on the wall ticks and tocks ominously, counting down the passage of time.  Its face shows 11:24.

The Woman walks about the room as if she is anxious about something.  At length, she goes to the window and peers out at the night in anticipation.  The clock ticks and tocks.

She turns back to the room and begins pacing absentmindedly back and forth.

Again, she goes to the window and looks out.  She sees the full moon in the black sky, but nothing else.  The clock ticks and tocks.

She turns and paces again.  She seems expectant, perhaps nervous.

She walks to a table at the end of the couch and picks up a newspaper lying there.  She reads the headline --

"'Vampire' Killer Still At Large".

The sub-headline reads --

"Fifth victim drained of blood".

The woman jumps with a start as the clock chimes the half hour.  It is 11:30.

She drops the newspaper back onto the table and resumes her pacing.  Her footsteps almost keep time with the incessant ticking of the clock.

She takes a cigarette from a pack on the table and prepares to light it -- then stops, and crushes the unlit cigarette in the ashtray with a sigh.

She walks over to the window and looks out again at the darkness.

CUT TO:

EXT. FRONT YARD - NIGHT

POV of a MAN hidden in some bushes a short distance from the house.  He is watching the Woman through the window as she looks out at the night.  He waits.

CUT TO:

INT. WOMAN'S LIVING ROOM - NIGHT

She turns away from the window and resumes her pacing.  After a bit, she walks to a small bar on a side table.  She takes a glass and pours herself some red wine, which she sips as she paces.

CUT TO:

EXT. FRONT YARD - NIGHT

POV of the Man.  He is crossing the yard, moving towards a door to the house.  He reaches the door and places his hand on the knob.

CUT TO:

INT. WOMAN'S LIVING ROOM - NIGHT

The Woman resumes her pacing. The clock ticks and tocks.

She tries to sit at one point, but cannot stay still for long.

She refills her now empty wineglass and takes another sip, but it does not settle her.

The clock chimes 11:45.  The Woman turns and stares intently at the clock, as if willing time to stop altogether.  Yet the clock ticks on.

CUT TO:

INT. WOMAN'S HALLWAY - NIGHT

POV of the Man.  He is walking down a long, dark hallway towards a lighted room -- the living room where the Woman paces.  He approaches slowly, careful not to make a sound.  His breathing is heavier now, as he makes his way ever closer to the lighted room.

CUT TO:

INT. WOMAN'S LIVING ROOM - NIGHT

Tight shot of the Woman looking out the window at the night.  The clock ticks and tocks.

Suddenly, she hears a board creak behind her, and stiffens.  She stands frozen for a moment, then turns quickly.

She sees the Man standing there dressed all in black, staring at her with a look of pure evil in his eyes.

For a moment they stare at each other, neither one moving.

Then the clock strikes midnight!

As the clock chimes there is suddenly a rush and blur of activity.

BONG!  BONG!  BONG!  BONG!  The clock chimes loudly.

Everything is a frenetic chaos, and we cannot tell what is happening.

BONG!  BONG!  BONG!  BONG!

We hear the sounds of a struggle, followed by a sound of pain.

BONG!  BONG!  BONG!  BONG!

After a moment comes the sound of a body falling to the floor.

Then... all is quiet.

CUT TO:

Low camera angle near the floor behind the couch.

Slowly, the camera moves from behind the couch to reveal a body on the floor.

It's the body of the Man.

CUT TO:

POV behind the Woman, looking over her shoulder as she stares at the body of the Man on the floor.

Then she turns slowly into the camera.

As she looks into the camera, we see two trickles of bright red blood running from the corners of her mouth.

The clock ticks and tocks.

CUT TO BLACK:

THE END
